Serum 1 and 2 are completely independent, so Xfer says you can keep both versions installed. This is a new plugin, but you can still open v1 presets (it will create a shortcut to your v1 preset folder so you can access them from v2).

Wavetable Oscillator
Serum's now-legendary Wavetable oscillators have been revamped with additional flexibility. Smooth interpolation mode allows for nearly unlimited frame positions within the wavetable (without warping). There's filtering, FM, PD, ring mode, distortion, and new wavetable warping. And we haven't even fully explored the outer reaches of what's possible with dual-warping on any of the major oscillator types.
Multi-sample oscillator
Able to replicate real instruments and sounds found elsewhere. Serum 2 comes with a vast, exclusive and original library of real instruments recorded around the world, including orchestras, choirs, pianos, guitars and more. Create from multi-sample recordings or import your own using the (open standard and human-readable) SFZ file format.
Oscillator Sample
Despite its simple premise of playing samples, the Sample Oscillator packs a punch. While sample playback is excellent and offers FM/PD/distortion types, the Sample Oscillator also offers looping with snap loop detection, flexible loop modulation, rate control for "tape stop" effects and similar, sample slicing with real-time fraction extraction/playback, tail mode, and more.
Fine Oscillator
Serum 2 adds a powerful granular oscillator that, despite its small appearance, packs a host of complex features, allowing you to experiment with various ways to create new sounds/breathe new life into sampled material.
Spectral Oscillator
Spectral oscillators allow real-time resynthesis of samples at the harmonic level, similar to the transient detection processing in advanced time-stretching algorithms, allowing you to shape time and frequency in radical ways.
