Multitrack editing improvements

When recording punch-ins or layering sounds, clip z-order is now preserved when selecting stacked clips, ensuring shorter clips don't get lost behind longer ones. Clips can be easily moved to the front or back using commands in the clip context menu, and users can customize the behavior with preferences. Additionally, there are improvements for symmetrical clip fades or adjusting fade curves or durations independently.

Visible Keyboard Shortcut Editor

Use the visible keyboard shortcut editor to see which keys have shortcuts assigned to them and which shortcuts are available for assignment. When you hover your mouse pointer over a key in the keyboard layout, a tooltip displays the full command name. When you select a modifier key on the keyboard layout, the keyboard displays all shortcuts that require that modifier key.

Timecode overlay

With Audition CC, you can view session and media timecode overlays in the Video panel. You can also lock the video output to an external display. The timecode overlay feature displays the current time display string as an overlay on the Video panel and the full-screen display of the video.

Multichannel audio workflow

With the multichannel audio workflow, you can automatically split all audio channels into separate clips. You can customize the channels assigned to a clip and adjust specific channel routings.

Updated audio effects

Many existing audio effects feature a spectrum meter, gain meter, and gain reduction meter. You can use the spectrum to identify imbalances in the audio and correct them using control points. You can enable Common Extension Platform (CEP) extensions and build integrated panels in Adobe desktop applications.

Mixing and adjusting song length

Use Adobe Sensei's machine learning to create remixes of music files in your collection. For example, you can take a song with a longer duration and create a shorter version that still sounds like the original. You can remix any piece of music in your collection to fit the duration of your video or projection.

Synthesized speech

Type or paste text and generate realistic voiceovers or narrations. Use this tool to create synthetic sounds for videos, games, and audio productions.

Preview Editor

You can see in real time how the waveform will look before applying changes. Or work on different areas of the file simultaneously. This feature is especially useful when working with effects that change the duration of a clip. To display the preview, choose View > Show Preview Editor.

Band splitter

Use the Band Splitter to take an audio clip (or a selection within a clip) and make up to eight copies, each containing a different frequency range from the original clip. The split points are determined by the crossover frequencies. Each copy of the waveform is created as a new file and placed in the Files panel. You can then edit or apply effects to each band individually.

Editing waveforms using spectral frequency display

Easily add, remove, and invert spectral selections made with the marquee, lasso, or brush selection tools.

Extract audio from CD

Extract selected CD audio tracks to single files. Insert an audio CD in your optical drive and choose File > Extract Audio from CD. Select the audio tracks and enable Extract to Single Files.

Multitrack session paste controls

Control paste operations in multitrack sessions: You can choose to paste all clips into the same destination track or into multiple tracks. Toggle between these by holding Alt while dragging. You can specify the default behavior in the Multitrack Clips preferences. When enabled, a new preference prevents overlapping clips when inserting or pasting new clips to create new tracks.

Phase Analysis Panel

Use the Phase Analysis panel to display the out-of-phase channels of a stereo waveform. The Phase Analysis panel also displays stereo separation. You can choose from several phase views, including histogram, mid/side, Lissajous plot, and phase wheel. For additional display options, right-click the graph and select an option.

Edit Favorites function

Use the Favorites panel to record, view, organize, run, or edit your favorite tasks. To display the Favorites panel, choose Window > Favorites > Edit Favorites.

Manual and automatic pitch control

The Manual Pitch Correction effect allows you to visually adjust pitch using the Spectral Pitch Display. The Spectral Pitch Display shows the fundamental pitch as a bright blue line and overtones in shades of yellow to red. Corrected pitch appears as a bright green line. The Automatic Pitch Correction effect is available in the Waveform Editor and the Multitrack Editor. In the latter, its parameters can be automated using keyframes and external control surfaces.

Select multiple clips and choose Clip > Group > Group Clip. You can move and edit grouped clips simultaneously, and even stretch them proportionally when clip stretching is enabled. Group stretch, gain, color, and other settings are available in the Properties panel.
