You might not think twice about the sound of snow. What does snow sound like anyways In fact snow might seem like the absence of sound, a quiet blanket that covers the world like a giant white soundproof rug. Once you take the time to listen carefully, and get creative, an entire winter wonderland of sound takes shape.

Captured in the mountains surrounding Salt Lake City Utah, the Splice team created an entire pallet of percussive sounds, sfx, drones, and synth melodies almost entirely from snow and ice. Splice Soundscapes: Snow is filled with sounds of snow shovels, cracking ice, packing snow, delicate snowflakes falling, poofy impacts recorded underneath the snow, and even ambiences of avalanches. These snowy field recordings are highly versatile as interesting percussion or sfx for a video and the processed melodic parts are perfect as a totally unique synth melody or drone texture for your next track.
