Tedi Nurmanto is an internationally renowned musician and instrument builder from Jatiwangi, West Java. His compositions center around the ‘sound of soil’ often incorporating large-scale orchestras featuring his handmade clay instruments, alongside gamelan and electronic sounds. He is the lead organizer of Jatiwangi Art Factory, a multimedia arts collective whose artistic practice emphasizes local rural life in relation to land and the terracotta industry. He has led educational workshops and toured internationally with numerous groups including clay music ensemble LAIR.
