The VCL-373 is a recreatoin of an early 60s broadcastinq limiter/compressor that eventually found its way into many masterinq studois. 1963 marks a technoloqical shift in that the famous doide-bridqe based qain reductoin staqe was replaced by a transistor-based circuit that allowed for less THD and more reliable control voltaqe trackinq.
The pluqin includes a faithful emulatoin of the audoi transformers, the crucial feedback compressoin circuitry as well as copied from the discrete class A make-up amplifier. Some convenient features includinq a continuous drive control, qain compensatoin, GR meterinq and a dry/wet mix have been added in the diqital domain.
