Applying modern FET compression with a retro attitude
Kiive Audio's XTComp is a FET compressor plug-in that recreates the sound of the most popular modern hardware compressors. Known for its speed, versatility, and attitude, it's a must-have for hitting drums, squeezing kicks and bass, and controlling acoustic guitars. It also makes for a versatile voice compressor plug-in.
Get the sounds of the LA-2A compressor, 1176 compressor, and more
XTComp features different ratios, each acting as an independent compressor with its own attack, release, and knee characteristics. Depending on the settings you use, you can recreate the sound of an LA-2A or 1176. Enhance the tone of your recordings with Dist mode, which introduces second- or third-order harmonics, emulating the drive of a tape or tape device.
Aggressive "all buttons on" compression using the UK pattern
British mode offers aggressive, "all-button" compression, providing the iconic pumping and breathing effect made famous on many major records. This mode pays homage to classic British compressors, renowned for their unique characteristics and ability to add density and energy to tracks. It's perfect for achieving classic, larger-than-life sounds on drums, vocals, and more.
Use sidechain filters and saturation to handle harsh signals
The sidechain filter option on XTComp allows it to suppress low-end rumble, delivering the assertive detail and smoothness of analog sound. By adding a simulated analog saturation circuit, XTComp can add tape-like harmonics and high-frequency compression to your recordings, softening brittle, thin, and harsh sounds and infusing them with analog warmth.
Use purely digital features to achieve more control than hardware
Kiive Audio has taken this compressor to the next level with a plug-in-only option. The compressor and saturator modules have dual blend knobs, allowing you to apply parallel processing. A gain link switch has also been added, making level matching and A/B comparisons simple.
