With this deep dive into mid-70s soul and funk, producer and multi-instrumentalist Luke Omalley shares his sophisticated, wide-ranging playing style and mastery of tone. Channeling Isaac Hayes, Darondo, the Chi-Lites, and early Funkadelic, he weaves mellow bass and guitar rhythms with interwoven, plucky lead lines, and searing, wah-infused leads.
Now based in Hamburg, Germany, this is Luke O’Malley’s 4th pack for Splice. He played these parts on a 1960s Hofner Bass, a 1950 Harmony Jupiter, a 1966 Fender Coronado, and a DIY Strat played through a Filmosound projector converted into a guitar amp, a Homemade Tube amp, a Dynacord 2000G (tube amp), and an Echolette m150 (tube amp).
